Zoë: Shepard, isn't the Bible kind of specific about killing?
Book: Very specific. It is, however, somewhat fuzzy around the area of kneecaps.

Nah didn't get it Z. Well now my desktop comp is allllllll wacked to hell. Whenever I try to boot it, it goes to the blue screen of death for about a split second, then it reboots again, and again, and again doing the same exact thing. I tried running my System Recovery, didnt work. Im 100% clueless.

Have you checked to make sure all of your cards/memory are seated correctly?

Yup do what Opie recommends, if that doesn't work than take out all but bare minimum...
1) CPU, RAM, HD, Floppy, and a CD...no cards, if you have more than 1 stick of ram only have 1 in. If doesn't boot than try other stick of ram. Oh ya use ps2 keyboard and mouse, not USB.

If still doesn't boot than
2) try safe mode press and hold F8 after the bios has loaded and the drives have been recognized while the OS loads.

If you can get into safe mode check your system for conflicts in device manager, check last software installed, run a scan disk, etc to try and find out what is causeing the issue.

If you can't get into safe mode you will probably have to format C and reload.

Also if you have a bootable virus scan diskette you might want to try that first, or if you don't pull the hard drive and put it into another system and scan the hd for viruses.

That would be my approach at this point, post detailed results and also your OS.

Yeah, what he said.  But also keep a close watch on what comes across the screen at bootup.  If you see any messages about MBR, LILO, or GRUB, then we have a whole another course of action to follow here.

add /SOS after the line that says fast detect in your boot.ini if you can get it to boot in safe mode. then it will boot with out the splash screen and you may be able to see the errors, it also decreases the time it takes for windowz to load. i did it.  your boot.ini should look something like this-

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect /SOS

make sure there is a space between fastdetect and /SOS or it dont work
thats for home edition but its similar for pro too. i was too lazy too boot up my computer to look:lol i on the crappy family dell8/

Then it tells me that my computer has gone through a error and then it give me 4 choices, every choise i choose it will no matter what restart. I tried to run recovery but still it restarted. So im just looking to buy a new HD if that would help any?

If you are seeing options for the boot, then most likely the HDD is fine, it is just that something in your OS is corrupted.
