As far as the LAN party goes, we would love to have you come, don't worry about bringing a friend, though we never say no to more peeps.  I am sure that you will make a good number of friends at the event anyway!

I knew one company that was even worse about Internet access.  Only certain users were allowed to have it, and they were monitored and recorded!
One company has a PIX firewall/filter, and Microsoft is considered a porn provider!
