Life / Is Opie too mean?
« on: December 16, 2004, 05:33:25 PM »
Last night we were out playing on the server and I banned a player for his behavior and being a smart mouth.  He was really good and I can understand his frustration at his team, me included, that we sucked.  However, I don't see this as an excuse for his behavior to his team mates.  His constant meele attacks on team mates and smart mouth is what pushed me over the edge.  I did give him several warnings.

My question is am I too mean and did I unjustly ban his butt?

Whatever / Pampered Chef Party at Opie\'s house
« on: October 18, 2004, 01:20:55 AM »
Yes, that's right, my wife is making me do this.

There will be a Pampered Chef Party at my house on Saturday the 23rd at 2:30pm.  Please make sure to tell anyone that might be interested in attending a party thats all about cooking gadgets.  (ZW you are required to tell your wife.)

I'm sure everyone will have a good time.  I'm planning on grabbing the kids and going out somewhere myself.  I just can't do the hen party thing.

Software / Interesting COD bug...
« on: September 09, 2004, 11:39:04 PM »
If you ever see an error that look like this;

recursive error after:  Hunk_AllocateTempMemory: failed on 4194320

134217728 bytes total hunk
&
126992832 total hunk in use

It says that it has too little hunk-memory.

I've been searching on google and found this:

COM_HUNKMEGS
If the map fails to load on startup or you get a hunk allocation error message, you'll need to change a setting from console:

After the game starts, hit the ~ tilde key to bring down console
Type the following or change the number to anywhere upto 3/4 of memory available. EG: if you have if you have 128 meg in your system, you can set it up to 96.  It defaults to 36 megs on install.

/set com_hunkmegs 96

This only needs to be set once, as it is saved in a configuration file by rtcw. This setting will let COD allocate more memory for a map to load and will not make any maps run slower, quite the opposite.

If that doesn't work the other bug that this error refrences is a sound problem that you fix like this;

Turn the Sound quality down in the Sound options menu to 11 kHz.

From the main menu select OPTIONS>SOUND and change your sound to (low) 11 kHz

Life / another important life lesson........
« on: April 28, 2004, 07:40:23 PM »
How should I put this for you younger readers.......DON"T!!!

You guys have any idea how bad food poisoning sucks?  Well, I just reminded myself again.  I made the mistake of eating one of those gas station cold cut sandwiches with have a notorous reputation for making people sick.  I knew better but was starving.  I've done it before....

Two days later of constant diarrhea and puke I may have learned that lesson for the last time.  I thought sure I was going to die this time.  Last time I was this sick I was in a jungle somewhere down south and got Dengue fever.

Take heed young PFYs.............

Software / Battlefied 1942 Tips and Tricks
« on: January 25, 2004, 12:33:55 AM »
I was messing with BF tonight and was looking for was to get it to start up faster.  I'm sure that this is not an origional idea, but I went into the movies folder and renamed all files there.  I appended .old to all the names.  Now the results were just a little surprising to me though it probably shouldn't have been.

Now when I start up BF1942 it goes directly to the player profile menu in a matter of seconds.  No more waiting for it to finish playing videos!!!!  Happy fraggin everybody.....:compute:

From TomsHardware....

"Microsoft announced that it will disable its Windows Messenger service and activate the Internet Connection Firewall in the Windows XP Service Pack 2 upgrade due in the first half of 2004. "Microsoft is committed to making Windows more secure," says Amy Carroll, director of product management for Microsoft's Security Business Unit."

Time to start using Team Speak.
