Whatever / Where do you stand?

Yes, for example to say that a company should be able to make money and not monitor the impact on the environment would be very short sighted and foolish.  But that does not mean I want the EMP crawling up every companies arse.  Free Enterprise is the best economic system out there, but there does have to be corporate responsibility to society.  Unfortunately because of man's sin, recent history tells us that much of that responsibility has to be governmentally enforced. /rant off

Hardware / Hard Drive Speed issues
« on: September 13, 2005, 12:07:20 PM »
Thanks!!!

I ran the HD Tach utility again, just to make sure.  Both my drives are running as they should be.  In fact one is a little bit faster than their included bench test on the same drive.  Good to know that when I get BF2 that this should not be a problem.

Here are my drives
C:\ Maxtor 80GB SATA 150 6Y080M0 This has my OS and office type apps and my swap file.

D:\ Maxtor 80GB ATA133 6Y080P0 This has my games and data files on it.

ATI x800 pro 256

nVidia 6800

I use OCZ as well, very nice memory and usually priced well too.  I've used it in a couple of systems.

Ok here are the 2 options I'm trying to decide between.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814150106 $142 after rebate
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814133137
$125 after rebate

I might also consider the one ZW is recommending

Thoughts?

Weeeee!!!

I just got a $50 gc for Newegg, and an unexpected check.  So I'm on the hunt for a new graphics card so I can play BF2.  I'm beginning my research, and would like to open this up for input.  It needs to be in the $100-$200 range and an AGP card.

I'm running an XP 2500+ and 1gb ram and a ATI 9600 pro right now.

My wife and I share my computer right now, and when I remote into it, it kicks her off.  Soooo after months of just coping with it I finally decided to google it.  Here is a link to the solution.  I made the changes yesterday, and today...yippeee it worked.

Just thought you all might like to know.

I've had several WD and Maxtor drives.  Most of them have served me well.  I have had 1 of each go bad.  So I guess...go Seagate!!! LOL I have a couple of scsi seagates that have craked away for a very long time although I thought one was bad...I later found out the problem was 1 stick of memory.  I had an IBM drive go bad too, but it was very very old.  Also seen a hitachi drive go bad in a laptop.  So none of them are a sure thing...that's why wise Jedi always backup...or run raid or both.
