I chuckled at these <a href="http://www.fresh99.com/messy-networks.htm">photos.

I'm sure however that you hardware/network geeks will get a bigger kick.

The pictures ARE job friendly...unless of course one of them is your Admin's handiwork.

Hey guys check this out...

An <a href="http://www.nvidia.com/page/quadroplex.html">EXTERNAL video card.

Holy shamoly!!  A video processor that sits on your desk and is bigger than some of those little lan-party pc's.

I know it probably costs an arm and a leg...probably your first born child too...but that would still be pretty sweet.

Life / Should we be scared....

Yep he goofed.  The funniest part though, this arose over the "foreign intelligence" or "domestic spying" program (depending on how you like it).  And there has been a law for quite a few years well before this administration that gives the attorney general the power to deem what the NSA can and cannot do in its information gathering tehniques.  In this case, the President and the attorney general both signed off on this.

I just find it rather humerous that people rarely object to companies tracking and selling personal information (yes even the phone companies), but if the government does... whoah!

Sorry, done ranting.  Just had to after I checked out some of the other content er um BS shoveled by that site.

"Mind Control" - I just love that one

What's up dudes and dudettes (anderson and jolly).  I'm in boston...  Drinkin' lots of very good irish beer... and I do mean lots.  The actual session material is pretty hit or miss, but I'm havin' a blast.

One of the shuttle bus companies had thier drivers go on strike he other day.  The local swat/special units were mobilized to keep traffic running smoothly.  It's kind of crazy to see the swat dudes in the standard crossing guard outfits.

Did I mention that they have good beer??

Well time to go learn something.

Whatever / Transformers...Sweet
« on: May 31, 2006, 11:07:53 AM »
I know.  The original one was my favorite TV show save A-Team.  I'm fairly certain that they know this and will not make a movie based from the bastardized transfomer shows.  Maybe I'm just a little bit of a retro optimist, but I think that this COULD be really cool.

It might be kind of blocky when you are 6" away, but from 3'-6' away it looks pretty sweet.  And this is even MY computer we're talking about.  It would probably look a little better on a faster machine.  I just think it is cool to see 2' tall bad guys.

Also I had already played when I posted last.  It was not a hope or wish...I was making a statement of fact.

My next upgrade is only partially a computer upgrade.  I might haul it out to a LAN Party, we'll see.

Hardware / AMD FX60 trounced by Intel Conroe
« on: March 10, 2006, 04:22:15 PM »
I wonder if Intel has finally pulled their collective heads out of the mud hole and increased cache sizes.  I did not see any mention of what they are going to be but if they haven't gotten any bigger than the 14k - L1 / 64K L2 that they were trying to push on an unsuspecting public with their last batch of semi portable space heaters, I can't see them standing up to much actual use as a desktop or workstation CPU.

Amazing isn't it??

MAC OS X 10.4 is apparently

1.  Based off the windows 95 kernel
2.  Uses Internet explorer 4.2 or older
3.  Can be bundled with Microsoft Office 97 (upgrade: additional $100)

The link in the first one does, I just copied it to the address bar in firefox.  It launched a cmd prompt and ran.  It is STAR WARS Episode 4.  It's a classic (old school).
