Title: Fake ATM found in Vegas...
Post by: ZWarrior on August 03, 2009, 12:29:54 PM
Doesn't sound all that surprising does it?

What I didn't mention was that it had been planted in the Riviera Hotel and Casino, site of the annual DefCon (http://www.defcon.org) security conference.  Guess what happened?  Yep the hackers found it real quick.

Go here (http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9136179/Fake_ATM_doesn_t_last_long_at_hacker_meet) for the details.

This is a real issue that you need to be on guard for even here in our town.  Try to use only ATMs from your bank that are in a permanent install, not this free standing units in the gas stations and convenience stores.
