This is kind of an interesting site that lists every console system (http://consollection.de/) and you can go through them to see descriptions about them.

I love that they are listing the 800XL from Atari as a console, but it was a early PC with BASIC in the ROM, and the floppy drive/tape drive for storage.  It did have a slot for 2600 cartridges, and ports for the joysticks, but it was mainly a personal computer.  I had lots of non-gaming programs for it as well as the games I bought that loaded from floppy.  Blue Max (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Max_%28video_game%29) was one of my favorites.
