The borg have done it again. Microsoft has now given police investigators the ability to access your data from a USB thumb drive regardless of the security in place.

No Doubt!!! Microsoft:crash:

I had heard that this had already found it's way onto the web. I'll find a copy for us if I can.
-
this was actually my big fear was that something like that can't be contained, and it will find it's way into teh wild and make it easy for anybody to compromise systems.

The technology can be used wrongfully too easy!!! :swear:

The fact that M$ did this is not a shock to me at all. However, The fact that it has happened has given me more confirmation that we are becoming more a police state. The fact that a company would be willing to do this makes me a little angry, and in the name of what?
Heck, I'd rather see a company close it's doors in the name of securing the privacy of personal data. If I could have total support of all the applications I use in Windows in Linux I would totally switch over. While it may not be a perfect solution to this nonsense it is better than nothing.
One solution to this problem is I could remove USB and scratch out the traces on the M/B that run to where the Ports would be...

It seems to me that there was a company that threw itself on the grenade for the sake of security. For the life of me I cannot remember who though. Opie, do you remember who it was?

Not a clue.... :embarassed:

I know that TorrentSpy.com did that last summer. I'm not sure if anyone else has.
