Then try the site above. You get an athlon 64 processor and a very nice video card. Even with high end parts and 1gb of memory you can get a nice system for around $1700, or pull back and spend as little as $1100

If you need realplayer but don't want real's juky player download Real Alternative. it's the real player codec with media player classic (best player avalible).

Whatever / final system specs!
« on: March 14, 2005, 10:47:27 AM »
seems it's a problem with the primary ide port. Either it's bad or I can't use it while I'm running a sata drive. Lucky for me the ide drives I'm running now I don't need for long (and I can pick up a sata adapter if I need to).

Gave it a 3 hour test with dc final. Rock solid.

only 2 vehicles seem to not work. The dpv and the humvee. Brads seem to do the best though. m1's also fly good.

the one that gets the most laughs is the scud. I'll work on a vid of that next.

A!

No question. Just imagine snauz trying to tell his team the location of an enemy. By the time his team figures out what he said it would be too late.

Hardware / new $500 paperweight
« on: February 26, 2005, 12:09:50 AM »
just got a sapphire radeon x850 XT 256mb gddr3 video card (as in it's in my hands now). Reason it's a paperweight is because I don't have a pci-e motherboard yet. should have about a week or two to test before the party.

Hardware / AMD Athalon 64 DUAL Core chips coming!!!
« on: February 24, 2005, 02:50:49 PM »
If amd is able to produce a dual-core chip running at 2.4ghz with a thermal dissipation of 100w intel will not stand a chance. From what I hear intel's chip will run around 2.8ghz and have a thermal dissipation of around 130w. Seeing how an amd chip at 2.2ghz can beat a p4 at 3.8 I don't see how intel will be able to compete. Perhaps they will see their error and release faster chips (likely at even higher wattages though).

I'd also like to see the pricing. last I read amd's 2.2ghz dual core would cost around the $400 mark and be compatible with existing 939 systems (via a bios update).

nice thing was I jumped on a sale. So the card only cost me 489.00 and not the $530 they want now.
