Hardware / Game Consoles
« on: July 30, 2007, 04:50:16 PM »
Ok...I know that game consoles are the Devil but Saturday I picked up the best exercise machine I've ever had.  Yes, a Nintendo Wii.  Needless to say after hours of boxing, tennis, and golf I've screwed up my back, my shoulders, and my knees.

I will say it's also the best party favor I think I've ever owned.  It's hilarious watching people making fools of themselves playing the games.

It comes with Wii Sports (baseball, tennis, bowling, golf, and boxing).  I also picked up Call of Duty 3, which is awesome.  It's a totally different kind of game when it's interactive and you are actually looking down the sight of your rifle...err...ummm...remote.

I haven't gone online to play any games yet but I'm sure that won't be far down the road.

I totally agree on this.  IPs are public knowledge, but taking your IP is the start.  Then a little more and a little more until you have to give a DNA sample to register the game.

There are better ways for them to make money.  Follow the WOW example and have servers they can charge fees for or something.  Don't AD me to death.

Battlefield Series / NEW RELEASE DATE

I know they are trying to get the accuracy of the weapons much closer to what you see in "Special Forces".  I have the add-on and weapon accuracy is much better.  Instead of emptying clip after clip...you can take someone down with just a couple of head shots.

Now, chopper realism went down a little with "Special Forces" in my mind.  I can stand a chopper on it's nose at 100 ft and spin to keep aim on one particular spot.  It's cool.  I'll have to get a video of that and post it.

I think this <a href="http://www.9xmedia.com/pages-Build_a_system/X-Top---10over10over10.html">ONE[/url] is mine.  Too bad the games don't fully support it.

Good question.  I wonder if they've changed the effectiveness of the missles as well.

Does BF2 : SP come out on 11/22/2005?

I've been checking over BattleField 2 Special Forces and this looks awesome.

Check this if you haven't already:

In Battlefield 2: Special Forces, players will choose to fight as one of 6 different Special Forces soldiers -- Navy SEALs, British SAS, Russian Spetznas, MEC Special Forces, Rebel groups and insurgents.

Special Forces, Special Weapons, Special Vehicles, Special Missions...Become an elite soldier or insurgent in the secret war for control of the modern world's most strategic locations. Fight intense online battles using the latest weaponry on land, in the air, and at sea.

Battlefield 2 Special Forces takes the intensity and quality of Battlefield 2 behind the scenes of news headlines, showcasing the most elite and deadly forces in the modern military world. Using accurate Special Forces weapons, gadgets, and vehicles, these covert armies battle to control key military and strategic locations.

Armed with the latest Special Forces weaponry, players can take control of any of the game's 10 new vehicles to engage in major conflicts with up to 64 players. Additionally, persistent character growth allows players to continue to rise through the ranks.

The Battlefield 2 game engine and physics system brings the modern battlefield to life like never before. The material penetration feature measures weapons' ability to fire through barriers based on their composition and players will need to know the difference between concealment and cover in order to survive.

It was an awesome LAN party gents!  It was great finally meeting all of you in person.  Now I'll be able to put a face with that rifle barrel that is always pointed at me.  You guys did great in COD2.  Congrats on taking 1st place home again!  I was happy with the way Wolvey and I did in COD2 on a team that had never played together before.  3rd place isn't too bad.  We were referred to as "the winning losers".  Go figure!  I was also happy with how we performed in BF2.  Not bad at all for being so new to the game.  I can't wait until next year's event.  Just do me a favor...get Iowa some flight lessons before next years match.  LOL  I have to say the most awkward thing for me was Wovley telling me to turn around...and me seeing about 10 people standing behind me (in awe or terror, not sure which) watching me play COD2 with a joystick.  Half of them had their mouth hanging open.  It was the funniest thing I ever saw.  Right up until the time Snauz walked up behind me and powned me in the back of the head with a rifle.  Then there were 10 people standing behind me laughing.  LOL  It was awesome!

Since I'm still recovering from my almost zombie-like state on Saturday I'll leave it at that.  Again...AWESOME to finally meet you all!  For now...I'm outta here!:sleep::sleep:

I know you are in FL but what part?  I have tons of hats.  I'll probably wear my new bright orange one.  Never wore it before.  Might be a good time to.

My parents are in Melbourne, FL on the coast.  1 hour east of Orlando.  About 20 minutes sound of Cape Canaveral where the Shuttle launches from.  I also have family in Ft. Lauderdale.

Yeah, if you see a guy walking around looking like  it will be me.  I will probably be there around 4 or so to see if they open the doors a little early for setup time.

GREAT NEWS!!!  I found some profiling software while I was surfing the net at 1am this morning.  I am now playing HL2 and COD2 with a mouse and joystick.  Most people think it's unnatural to use a joystick in a FPS but for me I'm right at home.  We'll see if it does anything for my scores.

Looks like Zeet made it in under the wire and will be attending.

I'll be there at 5pm when the doors open.  Not sure about Wolvey.  He is trying to get out of here early today.

The problem I'll have is I've only ever met Phil in person.  I suppose I can put a sign together and stand there like a limo driver at the airport.

Any preference on where you're at in the building?  I know Wolvey said he likes the end of a row.

They have a tendency to do that if you don't enforce some sort of population control.
