I have no idea what to call this but it turned out pretty good and is really low calorie per serving.  As with all good ideas it was born from "I don't want to go to the store" and "lets see whats in the pantry that I can turn into something".

Ingredients:

1 ½ cups barley
3 1/3 cups water
1 small can of tomato paste
1 can diced tomatoes
1 TBS of Italian herbs
2 TSP of Salt
2 chicken breasts

Start by cook chicken breasts any way that you want to.  You will be slicing them into thin strips when they are done.

Bring  water to boil in a separate pot.

Add barley to cooking pot and cook for 12 minutes.

Add tomato paste and diced tomatoes to cook pot.

Mix well.

Add Italian Herbs and Salt to cook pot.

Mix well.

Add chicken and mix again.

If needed, add a splash more water to pot to keep barley from sticking to pot.

Continue to cook for a couple minutes and serve hot.

Add salt and pepper to taste.

Enjoy.

Cooking and Recipies / Crab & Cream Cheese Wontons
« on: April 15, 2013, 06:21:08 PM »
Crab & Cream Cheese Wontons

1-8 oz. tube crescent roll dough
3 oz. cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup mayonnaise
... 3/4 cup cooked crabmeat, chopped
2 green onions, chopped
1/8- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
salt and pepper, to taste

Heat oven to 375°F. Spray cookie sheet with cooking spray.
Unroll dough on work surface.
Pinch seams to seal and roll with a rolling pin to create an even rectangle.
Cut into 6 rows by 4 rows to make 24 squares.

In small bowl, mix cream cheese, mayo, crabmeat, onion, and red pepper. Salt and pepper to taste.

Divide crab mixture evenly among the squares, dropping it by spoon-fulls that are 1/2 inch from 1 corner of each square. Starting with same corner, fold dough over filling, and tuck end tightly underneath filling; continue rolling to within 1/2 inch of opposite corner.

Roll opposite corner of dough over roll; press to seal.

Place on cookie sheet. Brush with egg white, if desired.

Bake 10 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from cookie sheet. Serve warm.

Whatever / PSYC 1000....how to piss off your professor
« on: March 16, 2013, 11:40:30 AM »
Tomorrow you wake up and realize you want to be a Psychologist. Given the contents in Chapter 1 regarding the different careers in Psychology, what type of Psychologist would you want to be and why? Provide examples and evidence to support your specific career choice. You may want to obtain more information online on this specific branch of Psychology.

I woke up this morning and have decided what I want to do with my life.  I want to be a Psychologist.  Not just any Psychologist mind you but an Occupational Psychologist.  I might even be able to pay off my student loans within my life time if I diligently follow this career path.  The Occupational Psychologist can have a really exciting career helping the poor office cubical workers realize their dreams of being more productive for less pay.  Yes I can even help employers rationalize how inhumane work conditions can have beneficial effects in the work place.  Yes, by understanding the work place and motivational behaviorisms, I can effectively raise profits by pulling the last spark of life out of the downtrodden worker.  All I need to have is a four year bachelors degree and I’m ready to ruin the lives of workers everywhere.
A few of the duties I will have will be as follows;
•   identifying abilities and developing potential - through using tests and job-relevant exercises at selection, and in career counselling.
•   motivating people - in designing payment and reward systems, and advising on health and safety issues.
•   assessing performance both on and off the job - in designing appraisal systems, advising on stress management.
•   helping people and organisations adapt to change - advising on how to change attitudes and behaviours to improve customer service.
•   designing effective organisations - advising on the best type of management systems, identifying effective human resources strategies, and designing jobs to fit peoples' skills.

Whatever / Why college is good for us...
« on: October 04, 2010, 09:24:50 PM »
College has always been a place for expanding our minds, our beliefs and then going wild, but in this example pulled from the web, we see a mixture of both.....sorta....

This was porportedly an answer from a real college exam.....

Bonus Question: Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)?

Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law (gas cools when it expands and heats when it is compressed) or some variant.

One student, however, wrote the following:

First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time. So we need to know the rate at which souls are moving into Hell and the rate at which they are leaving. I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving. As for how many souls are entering Hell, let's look at the different religions that exist in the world today.

Most of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell. Since there is more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all souls go to Hell. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially. Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell because Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand proportionately as souls are added .

This gives two possibilities:

1. If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase until all Hell breaks loose.

2. If Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in Hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hell freezes over.

So which is it?

If we accept the postulate given to me by Teresa during my Freshman year that, 'It will be a cold day in Hell before I sleep with you,' and take into account the fact that I slept with her last night, then number two must be true, and thus I am sure that Hell is exothermic and has already frozen over. The corollary of this theory is that since Hell has frozen over, it follows that it is not accepting any more souls and is therefore, extinct......leaving only Heaven, thereby proving the existence of a divine being which explains why, last night, Teresa kept shouting 'Oh my God.'
