Whatever / Still alive?
« on: May 31, 2020, 02:24:03 AM »
Amazing this place is still around after 20+ years. So sad to learn many of you have moved around the country. But hopefully everyone is well and that work out for you. Thought I'd post and at least get this forum up to two posts this year. Sadly I don't play much these days outside of minecraft. Though I do have other games I toss in from time to time.

LAN Parties / Netwar 20 - nov-13th
« on: October 14, 2010, 12:04:19 PM »
It's been a while since I last posted here. Looks like someone fell asleep so I shall post this.

I will not be there as I don't see strapping my system to my bicycle and going out 120 blocks! Perhaps some day south Omaha will get a lanparty again.

From the netwar e-mail...
--------------------------

Greetings,

Can you believe it?  NETWAR 20.0 is just about 1 month away!  Can you feel the excitement?!?  Have you registered?
We have yet another great event planned for this November and we need to see all of your smiling faces to make it a complete success!

We need all-hands on deck in support of our events.   If you have not registered yet for the event, please do so, please do not wait till the last minute as so many of our attendees do, registering early attracts more attendees and more sponsorships, we need to have large numbers many weeks out, not the week before the event.  Prepaying is even better as it will secure your seat and help us plan out the event better, as well as give you the early prepay discount.  But if you just do not want to shell out the cash so early out, then please at least register for the event.  Thank you!

Photos and Videos
We would like to invite you to check out the photos and video from NETWAR 19.0 on the NETWAR web site.

NETWAR 20.0 Registration & Prepay
NETWAR 20.0 will take place at The Digz Sports Arena in Omaha, Nebraska on Friday November 12, 2010 at 7:00pm.  The event will last for 26 hours straight, ending at 9:00pm on Saturday night, November 13th.

Please get yourself registered and prepaid for NETWAR 20.0 as soon as possible, this helps us grow our sponsorships and helps us gain additional attendees.
To prepay, all you need to do is visit www.netwar.org and click on “Prepay now”.  You may pay with PayPal or a credit/debit card.  To pay with credit/debit, during the checkout click on “Don’t have a PayPal account? Use your credit card or bank account”.  For this event we will NOT be accepting payments at the door, you MUST prepay online to be able to attend our events.  If you absolutely cannot pay online, please contact us and we can provide you with other options.

Entry Fee Breakdown
$25 (If pre-paid online before October 25th)
$30 (If pre-paid online between October 25th - October 31st)
$35 (If pre-paid online between November 1st - November 7th)
$40 (If pre-paid online between November 8th - November 13th)
The sooner you prepay the better it helps us to plan and prepare for the event, this is why we penalized the door fee for payments that are getting near event time.
Event entry fee will not be accepted at the door, you must prepay online to attend.

Refunds
Treat this like a concert that is sold out, you must have bought your tickets early, and if you don’t show for the event your tickets are not refundable.  However, we graciously offer a refund up until November 6th.  Just simply email us to request a refund.

Game Voting
Please help us determine what PC based games will be popular at NETWAR 20.0 by letting us know what games you will be playing.  You can do this by visiting our web site and click on 'Vote for Games'.

Tournament Voting
Please help us decide what official PC based tournaments to run at NETWAR 20.0 by visiting the web site and clicking on 'Vote Tournaments'.  To help protect our voting system from people who vote and never actually attend our events, you must now be prepaid for our event to be able to vote for tournaments.

Starcraft II & Call of Duty: Black Ops
Starcraft II was a huge hit this summer at NETWAR 19.0, the tournament we hosted for it went smooth and was a lot of fun.  We are hoping that the popularity for this game will be huge for NETWAR 20.0 and we are currently planning to host a large tournament for it.
Call of Duty: Black Ops comes out November 9, just a few days before our event.  Black Ops is supposed to bring back LAN play just like Call of Duty 4 and we are very excited about its release right before our event.

Spread The Word
Our LAN parties would not have grown to the size they are today without your help.  Please continue by helping us spread the word about our amazing events.  Do your part and post about our events on Facebook, Twitter, forums and any other places you think would help.  In addition, our event flyer can be grabbed off our web site and placed in public locations such as schools and work.  As always, the trusty word-of-mouth method should be able to easily spark interest with others you know.

Email Summary and Actions You need to perform
1.    Register for NETWAR 20.0
2.    Prepay for NETWAR 20.0
3.    Vote for Games you will be playing
4.    Vote for Tournaments you want at the event

Whatever / start of a new bf2 mod.
« on: March 07, 2006, 02:06:21 PM »
So far All I have done is run the server and provide some comments. But here is a video of stuff in the mod. This is an old version and much more has been added (ie. working on a movable carrier)

http://www.386page.com/doa/all vids final.avi
8.85mb 4:08 (m:ss)

The mod itself.

http://www.386page.com/doa/BF2%20Mod/POC.zip

just extract the zip to your mods folder in bf2. I'll try to jump on vent tonight (after 9:00 central) and try to help people get it up. I'll have a server running as well. If I can talk them, into it I might even get the two designers in as they always love comments.

And finnaly some pics

This is what the "space plane" looks like at 1,000,000 feet

And finnaly the hover tank.

Hardware / overclocking the x850XT
« on: May 29, 2005, 07:13:48 PM »
After trying for months to push my x850xt (pci-e) I finally reached it's max (I think).

First stock gives me 520 core and 540 mem.

I used atitool 0.0.23 to overclock.

stock gave me around 353 fps with it's built in demo.

Overclocked gave me 585 core and 615 mem. (any higher would cause artifacts. even at these settings I can only play for a few hours before the card gets to hot and crashes)

Overclocked gave me 397 fps.

thats an 11% bump in fps (beating out the x850xtpe which was around $100 more when I got my card).

nothing like tryint to kill a $500 card :lol

« on: April 28, 2005, 12:23:21 PM »
I'm modding  Iwo Jima  into a ctf map. This or next weekend my clan will set up a server to test some mods made by a few people. I'll post the ip and times when I know.

I'm also working on a fun map. knifes that shoot tankers (was a big hit when I set up a server at home) and a few other fun things.

Hardware / new $500 paperweight
« on: February 26, 2005, 12:09:50 AM »
just got a sapphire radeon x850 XT 256mb gddr3 video card (as in it's in my hands now). Reason it's a paperweight is because I don't have a pci-e motherboard yet. should have about a week or two to test before the party.

Hardware / ImageQuest L90D+
« on: February 10, 2005, 01:51:30 PM »
just placed an order at tigerdirect.com and the total was only $388! Not bad as most places want $430+ for the monitor and then another $15 for shipping.

here is a link to newegg's page. it's sold out but they have the best description of it (and they have feedback on the page)

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=24-179-014&depa=0

Hard to believe last year I was griping about paying $50 for a used 17" monitor and this year I drop nearly $400. Times have changed.

here is tigerdirects link

Hardware / VOLARI video cards.
« on: February 03, 2005, 04:26:50 PM »
VOLARI will be releasing new pci-e chipsets that will perform about the same as the x700 and yet will only cost around $50. I'm always looking to try 3rd party chips (hell I still use trident cyberblade cards and several s3 cards). With a card of this level at this price perhaps we will see a 3 party market. One can only hope.

Security / ddos attack?
« on: January 26, 2005, 02:01:55 AM »
I think my site may be experiancing a ddos attack. It's still up for now but in the last 12 hours I'v had over 1000 ip's make requests to my site and it's added up to over 1gb in just 24 hours.
an old snapshot of awstats before it went down (oddly awstats stopped working soon after I made this copy).

(note that today is blank. have no idea why)

Whatever / looking for a tech job!
« on: December 16, 2004, 06:59:40 PM »
Just wondering where to start out. I'm mainly interested in system building and repair but plan on branching out into networking. Any ideas were to start? Really would like a job with on-the-job training (or one that offers to pay for classes).

« on: September 08, 2004, 02:29:34 AM »
I don't know what the record is for attendance but this party looks like it's shaping up to be huge! Even 50 people is about twice as many as last time. Can't wait! (hope you have enough pizza. I'll buy 2/3 (or more) slices myself)

Whatever / bad timing for problems!
« on: August 27, 2004, 08:31:22 PM »
My system is acting up badly! Some times at startup my computer will say I don't have power running to my 9800 card. Also when playing games it will sometimes crash and then come up with the same problem. I don't know what could be the cause here.
