OK, time for all you handy men to chime in!!

I have a bathtub that is draining SLOW!!!!

I have heard to schools of thought for treating this.

1)  use the Drano (thick) and get rid of it that way.

2) DON"T use Drano, it'll damage the pipes.  Snake that bad boy out.

Me, I am not knowledgeable on home fixins.  I don't have a snake.  So I would like to hear suggestions.

And Opie?  I will NOT just shove C4 down there and blow it out.  Then I would have to buy Mrs. ZW a new tub and THAT would not be pretty.

I should note that like most new homes, ours are PVC pipes.

First i would suggest using the good ole plunger and then if that doesnt work go for the snake.

And if Drano DOESNT do the job it WILL sit in thier and cause damage...  So far working with my father we havent ever used drano just the snake and a plunger and every time we have come out fine.

I prefer to use a combo of the snake and a smal amount C4, maybe 1 to 2 lbs of it.  :evil

::Enters Jolly::

1.)  Take take about 3 cups of Drano (Thick) send it down the drain and let it sit for 20 min. in the pipe, It will not harm PVC. PVC is a plastic it will be fine.

2.) Run hot water down the drain for about 10 more min.

3.) if you have a snake you could run it down just for good messure or Fill the tub up so that there is enough water to submerger a plunger  and plunge the drain with a couple of good pluges, and I mean good pluges.

and if all that does not work I am soory to say that Opies method is the only last resort. :D

It is fine with PVC for a short time. The only time you don't want to use Drano or Lye is with Lead pipes Drano eats it away and Lye will mix with the lead and make a very toxic gas.

Although if you use Lye with your pipes keep your face away from the fumes and your arms covered.  and be sure to wear clothes you don't care about. because they will get destroyed.
