So what is the verdict? I downloaded it to my system while I was out of town, and also downloaded the v1.3 server. I have not installed either yet.

Hey guys i have a problem when i try to install bf1942

i get to 16-17 percent done and it says: Specified componet cannot be found in media. An attempt was made to access a componet that does not exist in the named media.

This is on a New Computer i just bought i know the game works cuz it did on the system at my dads

here is some of the things abot the computer:

Intel pentium 4 processor 2.66GHz
512MB DDR SDRAM Memory
120GB Ultra DMA Hard Drive
Radeon 9000 graphics card with 64MB
DDR SDRAM video memory and TV-out
48x12x48x max. speed CD-RW drive with
record now CD creating software
DVD-ROM drive 16x max. speed

and the rest of the stuff is just programs on it, if you want me to put it i will.

please respond asap!

Hey Lord_RIco ,

Of what I have read about your problem it sounds like a possible cd problem. The problem could be the cd that you received in the retail box did not have everything it is supposed to so you can install or the cd is a burned copy and has issues. Get another copy of the game or take back the retail box and ask to swap it out for a different box.... hope that helps....!

What versions of DirectX are you running on the boxes?

Perhaps it is a disparity between the 2 that is causing this. Try upgrading to the latest version of DX and see if it happens.

If the machine he is seeing the problem on has an older version, perhaps, Then it is not fnding a file on the local drive that is needed. I had something like this when I was installing a game and I needed to upgrade the DX files. Just a thought.

when i install it tells me i need dx 8.1, and that it was detected, so the only option it gives me is to hit ok
