Just to remind you, AMD doesn't need a patch for games. Also I'm sad to tell you, AMD is performing better than Intel on quality and not speed.

I did read that review, and all i have to say is, Intel as not learned anything.
It, may have had a higher clock speed but it did not beat AMD where it count, and that is Processing.

And reading the page on the patch, it does say HT and dual core procs.  That would be the AMD procs as well from my reading.
Quote
This Call of Duty® 2 update is recommended for Windows 2000/XP users with Intel Hyper-Threading Technology (HT Technology) enabled processors, multiple processors, or systems with a dual core processor.
It appears that they are just enabling multi-core support, essentially SMP,  in the game so that the users can get even better performance from the code.

Just can't get anything by ZW.
AS for Jolly..........
“Pentium Extreme Edition 955 is not an eternal loser in the dual-core duel anymore. There are a lot of applications where Pentium Extreme Edition 955 managed to defeat AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+, the top dual-core solution from Intel’s competitor. In fact, AMD processor remains the leader only in gaming applications, in professional OpenGL tasks and a few codecs,” said X-bit labs analyst Ilya Gavrichenkov in article called “First Look at Presler: Intel Pentium Extreme Edition 955 CPU Review

Intel's market in the corprate world only remains because of it legacy. AMD does have a stronger market in the gaming realm because that is where their market started, like Intels in the coprate world.

Intel has doe nothining to improve there processors exectept to increase clock speed and reduce the die size. Intel still uses a 20 stage pipline, while AMD uses a 12 stage pipline, so Intel is clocked faster and might beable to run a little faster but and amd processor can stil get things done faster as it does not have to do the same thing 20 times to complete a task.

...and if you look at those resault I'd say they sqeaked by, by the skin of the teeth. That wasn't a smoking at all.

They got by on luck, and a higher clock speed is all. In fact I think they might have just increased the muliplier, and and a couple of other thing.

Oh, and Boom, did you by chance see what the power consumtion is and the heat output, in comparison to the data through?  Do you really think it is and efficient processor.

this isn't to hurt feelings or anything just to point out that,
The Intel/AMD race is more opionated that fact based.

So, I went and checked it out, its a descent Sprint mod. Best Sprint mod so far atleast.

First the Good.

They made it a weapon (good) now when you sprint, you tuck your gun away and can't shoot. most of the other mods thet I played let you shoot and sprint.

There is a time limit to sprinting, and a recharge untill the next time you can sprint. (good) most all the mods i played did have this. some did, but it was either run all the time, or if there was a time limit, you just stop and run again. plus you could still shoot.

it has a good pace set to it, it isn't like your going to fast. (good)

bad things

the made th 'F' key you run key, that is also the activate key. (bad) though not used a whold lot in MP mode, the 'F' is still and important key.
and I 'm not sure if it can be changed.

other then that its a desent mod.

Our results with Call of Duty 2’s 1.01 patch weren’t nearly as spectacular as the results we saw with Quake 4 1.05 a few weeks ago. In our testing, performance was at best on par with the initial retail release of the game. At worst, we saw performance declines of 3% or more, particularly on AMD Athlon 64 X2 systems. Intel’s Pentium Extreme Edition 840 didn’t fare much better either.

When we were done with our testing for this article, we ran a few quick benches with a GeForce 7800 GTX 256MB and saw no gains there either.

It’s possible that the demos we’re using just aren’t built to take advantage of the dual-core optimizations Infinity Ward has built into Call of Duty 2 1.01. Both of the demos we used came from the multiplayer portion of the game; perhaps things would have fared differently in the single-player campaign? Or perhaps Infinity Ward’s optimizations focused on other aspects of the game, such as the AI of German soldiers and friendly NPCs? If that’s the case, traditional benchmarking isn’t always capable of highlighting these types of differences.

Infinity Ward has been pretty mum on the details of this patch – they don’t even provide any type of indication of what kind of performance improvements end users should expect with the patch, so it’s difficult to know what’s going on here. Perhaps we’re testing the wrong aspects of the game with our demos, or perhaps the optimizations just aren’t as significant as everyone had expected in light of the huge gains found in Quake 4? Again, there just isn’t enough information out there to know.

We’ll see if we can get some answers from Infinity Ward/Activision on this, but in the meantime, we can’t help but feel a little disappointed by these results.

Despite today’s lackluster Call of Duty 2 performance results, we’re still extremely bullish on multi-core technology. While there’s only one game out there on the market showing significant gains thanks to dual-core technology, by the end of the year there will be dozens of titles on the market that have been designed with dual-core in mind.

Today’s results indicate that it isn’t easy getting everything up and running, AMD, ATI, Intel, and NVIDIA all need to work together to get their drivers ironed out, and all four must work with game developers to get the proper optimizations in place. (And we in the media may need to tweak the way we test all this software and hardware.) But make no mistake about it, multi-core is the way of the future.

I noticed.  Thank God for small favors on that one!

We played teh new patch quite a bit yesterday, and noticed a few things.
 - Overall it seems to run smoother overall.
 - The fire pattern of the shotgun is closed in, but the distance went out further.  The unrealistic distance kills you once got with the shotgun are not extended out to the insanely unrealistic distant.
